Swiss Type Adjustment Free Rotary Broaching Tool Holder

Slater Tools Inc. is expanding its product line of Swiss Type Adjustment Free Rotary Broaching Tool Holders. Swiss type tools are important in manufacturing, primarily in the aerospace and medical industries, making orthopedic bone screws and small fastener products. Slater’s latest rotary broaching video, broadcast on YouTube, demonstrates the new 0700 series Swiss Type Broach Holder, which has a .500 inch tool bore. The Swiss Type Rotary Broaching Tool Holder is shown creating a hexagon shaped hole in a metal bar on a lathe.

In 2006, Slater introduced the 0600 series Swiss Type Adjustment Free Rotary Broaching Tool Holder which allows the operator to use the tool holder without the need for centering. Designed for small swiss type machines, the rotary broaching tool holder’s sleek design is one of the smallest in the industry, which eliminates interference and clearance problems, and provides easy access to the grease fitting for maintenance. This smaller Rotary Broaching Tool Holder is perfect for many micro broaching applications. In 2007, Slater began offering the 0600 tool holder with additional shank sizes and an increased availability of standard 8mm shank hex, square, and hexalobular 6-lobe broaches.

Now available from Slater is the new 0700 series which features a .500 inch tool bore for use in larger swiss type machines. This Swiss Type Adjustment Free Rotary Broaching Tool Holder is manufactured with the same quality and reliability as the thousands of Slater tool holders already in use throughout the world. The 0700 series tool holders use standard .500 inch shank, 1.75″ overall length rotary broaches for polygon forms, most are available from stock. The Swiss Type Adjustment Free Rotary Broaching Tool Holder is used primarily on swiss type CNC machines and gang style lathes.

Rotary Broaching, also called hex broaching or wobble broaching, uses a precision tool to produce an internal form inside a pre-drilled hole or an external form on the outer diameter of a machined part. Maximum tool holder life requires precision alignment with the pre-drill or diameter. The result is a form which matches the shape of the broach. For instance, an internal square broach measuring .25 inch across the flats, produces a square hole of the same size. Broaches are available from Slater Tools Inc. with squares, hexagons, splines, serrations and other polygon forms. When micro broaching, profiles under .050 inch can be achieved. Delivery times are the fastest in the industry. Rotary Broaching is also a popular money saving technique because forms can be created within seconds using the primary machine spindle without having to add a secondary operation.
